What's the difference between an EHR and an EMR?

An EMR (electronic medical record) is the digital chart within a single practice or organization. An EHR (electronic health record) is broader: it's built to be shared across organizations, following a patient through their whole care journey. In practice the terms are used interchangeably, and integration work targets the same systems (Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth) regardless of the label.

How long does Epic or Cerner integration take?

It depends on the interface. A read only FHIR/SMART on FHIR integration against a sandbox can be working in 2 to 4 weeks; production access, security review, and HL7 v2 message feeds add time. A typical first production integration lands in 6 to 10 weeks, and once the knowledge graph layer exists, each additional system is faster because it maps to the same canonical model.

Can you integrate an AI assistant (GPT or Llama) with Epic?

Yes. We connect the model to Epic through FHIR/SMART on FHIR, then ground it in a knowledge graph so it answers from real patient and reference data with citations: not free form generation. For PHI safety we can run open weight models (Llama, Mistral) in your VPC so data never leaves your infrastructure.
